Answers to the questions contractors and stone yards ask most about Black Ice L7 Labradorite pavers.
Labradorite is a rare igneous rock classified as anorthosite. Unlike standard granite (which is typically quartz and feldspar), Labradorite is composed primarily of plagioclase feldspar. This gives it a distinctive iridescent shimmer called "labradorescence" that catches light differently at every angle. It is quarried from a limited number of deposits worldwide, with the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine being one of the largest sources. Read our complete Labradorite guide.
Water absorption measures how much moisture a stone absorbs by weight. The industry average for granite pavers is 0.4%. Black Ice L7 at 0.06% absorbs roughly 7 times less water. This means the stone is nearly waterproof, which directly translates to superior freeze-thaw resistance (water cannot get in, so it cannot expand and crack the stone), resistance to salt staining, minimal efflorescence, and very low maintenance requirements. Learn why 0.06% changes everything.
Yes. Black Ice L7 is rated for over 100 freeze-thaw cycles (most Ohio locations average 40 to 60 cycles per year). The near-zero water absorption prevents the spalling, cracking, and delamination that commonly affects concrete pavers and lower-grade stone in cold climates. Road salt will not stain or damage the surface because the stone does not absorb moisture that carries dissolved salts. Full freeze-thaw guide for cold climates.
Each paver is 7.87" x 3.94" x 1" (200 x 100 x 25 mm). Coverage is 4.65 pieces per square foot. One full pallet covers 269 square feet, which is enough for a 16 x 17 foot patio. A pallet weighs approximately 3,866 lbs and requires a forklift or crane truck for unloading.
Yes. We ship free sample boxes (2 to 3 pieces) to contractors and stone yards anywhere in the US. No cost, no obligation, no follow-up pressure. You can see the labradorescence effect, feel the splitface texture, and show it to your client before placing an order. Just mention "sample" in your contact form message or call us.

Retail pricing ($14 to $15/sqft) is for homeowners and small projects with no minimum order. All prices are per square foot and do not include freight. See full 2026 pricing breakdown.
No. The splitface (natural cleft) finish provides excellent traction even when wet. Unlike polished or honed granite, the textured surface creates natural grip. This makes it well suited for pool decks, walkways, and outdoor stairs where slip resistance is a concern. Many polished stone installations require additional anti-slip treatments; splitface does not. Compare all granite finish types.
