Designed for Poolside Performance

Pool decks face a unique combination of challenges: constant water exposure, bare feet, pool chemicals, and UV. Black Ice L7 handles every one.

Slip-Resistant Surface

The splitface (natural cleft) finish provides textured grip for wet bare feet. Unlike polished granite, this surface stays safe around water. No additional anti-slip treatments needed.

Chemical Resistant

Chlorine, salt, bromine, and muriatic acid will not damage these pavers. The 0.06% water absorption rate prevents chemicals from penetrating the stone. Rinse and forget.

UV Stable

Natural stone does not fade from sun exposure. The deep black color and iridescent labradorescence stay true year after year. No resealing, no color refresh needed.

Why Contractors Specify Splitface for Pool Decks

The natural cleft surface of Black Ice L7 pavers creates micro-texture that channels water away from foot contact points. This is not a sprayed-on coating that wears off. It is the natural structure of the stone.

  • Natural texture provides grip when wet
  • No anti-slip coatings to reapply
  • 31,300 PSI compressive strength
  • Mohs hardness 6 to 6.5 (scratch resistant)
  • 43% below premium competitor pricing

Pool Deck Paver FAQ

Are granite pavers slippery around a pool?
Black Ice L7 pavers feature a splitface (natural cleft) finish that provides excellent traction, even when wet. Unlike polished or honed granite, the textured surface creates natural grip for bare feet. This makes them well suited for pool surrounds, spa decks, and any area where water is regularly present on the surface.
Will pool chemicals damage granite pavers?
No. Labradorite granite is highly resistant to chemical damage. Chlorinated water, salt water, bromine, and common pool chemicals will not stain, etch, or degrade the surface. The 0.06% water absorption rate means chemicals cannot penetrate the stone. Simply rinse the deck periodically to prevent mineral buildup.
Do black granite pavers get too hot for bare feet?
The splitface texture helps dissipate heat compared to smooth or polished surfaces. While dark stone does absorb solar heat, the rough texture stays cooler underfoot than polished alternatives. In hot climates, the surface will warm up in direct sun. Many pool owners find the temperature comfortable for normal foot traffic.
Can granite pavers be used as pool coping?
Yes. Black Ice L7 pavers can be used as both pool deck surfacing and coping. The 1-inch thickness and precise dimensions (7.87 x 3.94 inches) allow for clean edge finishing. The splitface texture provides grip at the pool edge where slip resistance matters most. For bullnose coping, we recommend consulting your pool builder about custom finishing.
